BROOKFIELD — Marceline High School’s version of “Mister Rodgers” wasn’t very neighborly this past Monday.
A pair of 1-run victories during the April 15-22 time frame elevated the Linn County-Meadville cooperative high school baseball team to the .500 mark, while the Mendon: Northwestern partnership team with Brunswick claimed the title in the 3-teams Carroll-Livingston Activity Association round-robin tournament it hosted while further burnishing its shiny season record.
Their annual Derrick Becker Relays highlight home meet looming not far ahead, Marceline High School’s track-and-field Lady Tigers backed up their strong showing in their first “scoring” meet of the 2025 season at Fayette April 3 with a second-place team finish in last Friday’s (April 11) Eaton Relays at Harrisburg.
It’s been a relatively-dreary recent past for Brookfield High School in its spring sports competitions, with the most-upbeat results being an eighth-place finish among 14 girls’ teams in last Friday’s Chillicothe Joe Shy Relays track-and-field meet.
Continuing a recent pattern of alternating wins and losses, the Linn County-Meadville co-op baseball team fell below .500 for the season and in the Tri-County Conference Tuesday when the strong Green City team pulverized it 17-0 in five innings at Purdin.
