Meadville Girls Finish Regular Season Perfect

Earn at least fourth win over state-ranked larger-class foe Every regular-season test now passed with another impressive win over a high-caliber opponent, Meadville High School’s basketball Lady Eagles took an unblemished 25-0 record into this week’s Class 1 District 12 tournament they are hosting, standing six wins away from a second state championship. At home last Monday, the MHS girls again pulled away from a state-ranked Class 2 squad to defeat Schuyler County, 68-58.

Evenly-Split 10-Wrestler Marceline Cadre at State

Five Tigers, five Lady Tigers in Columbia next two days MARCELINE — After having a bunch of boys and only one girl compete in the 2022 Missouri State High School Activities Association Class 1 Wrestling Championships, a fully- balanced contingent from Marceline is in Columbia today for the first of two days of competition in the 2023 state tournament. Handful of Marceline Tigers to State Wrestling

Brookfield’s Switzer, Pair of Parns District Wrestling Champions

Seven Bulldogs earn spot in this week’s state tourney during last weekend’s district event HIGGINSVILLE — Even though they couldn’t keep pace with Clarence Cannon Conference compatriot Centralia in the team standings, the Brookfield High School wrestling Bulldogs did push seven wrestlers through to today’s and tomorrow’s Class 1 state tournament, three of them as district champs. BHS’ Peyton and Devan Parn won the 126- and 175-pounds division titles, respectively, at last weekend’s Class 1 District 3 tournament at as did Trayce Switzer at 106, capturing a combined 10 contested-bout wins along the way.

BHS Lady Bulldogs Eye District Finals Berth

Brookfield High School’s basketball Lady Bulldogs carry some confidence from their best regular- season record in eight years into their 2022-23 postseason opener tomorrow night, but they know that 16-10 record and their swagger could have been better. The Lady ’Dogs will meet either Carrollton or Milan, whichever survived last night’s quarterfinals- round game in the Class 3 District 16 tournament, in the Ketcham Community Center on the Trenton campus of North Central Missouri College tomorrow at about 8 p.m., seeking to advance to Saturday’s 5 p.m.

BHS Cagers Had Tough Week in Conference Play

Shooting issues continue to hold back girls as season winds down One maxim of sports is that, when a team or individual has postseason playoffs competition after its season schedule, the person or club wants to be performing at or close to its best when those championship-chasing playoffs arrive. As a very good regular season – their program’s best in a half-dozen years – reaches that juncture this week and into next, the Brookfield High School basketball Lady Bulldogs are in urgent, desperate search of that peak level.
