The opening dual-match competition of the 202223 season for the Marceline High School wrestling teams this past Tuesday ended with the host Tigers and Lady Tigers both defeating their Carrollton and Macon counterparts, but losing to Southern Boone County. Marceline’s boys bested Macon 51-18 and Carrollton 57-12, but were doubled by SoBoCo 54-27.

There was no variation in the Meadville High School basketball Lady Eagles performance Tuesday as they commenced Tri-County Conference play. The league favorites improved to 5-0 on the season with a 65-points victory at Atlanta, reaching the 80-points plateau and prevailing by at least 60 a thirdstraight time in their 83-18 rout.

SAN DIEGO — Willson Contreras is going to St. Louis to replace Yadier Molina at catcher, agreeing to an $87.5 million, five-year contract with the Cardinals on Wednesday.
