Brookfield High School sophomore cross-country runner Samantha Sharp showed the way in the girls’ division of the Cameron Invitational meet this past Tuesday in the second-to-last BHS meet of the 2022 regular season. One of only three Brookfield entries in the high school varsity race, she completed the 5-kilometers course in 20:16.

Two Each from Brookfield, Marceline to State Golf

CHILLICOTHE — Although none played exceedingly well – especially considering the exquisite weather in which the Class 1 District 3 tournament was played, two members each of the 2022 Brookfield and Marceline high school girls’ golf teams earned the right to compete individually in the approaching state tournament at Columbia. In virtually-perfect climatic conditions – nextto- no wind on the often-breezy, links-style Green Hills Golf Course and balmy temperatures under mostly sunny skies, 2021 district medalist and then state-tourney fifth-place finisher Tess Sheerman settled for a top-5 individual finish at district, shooting a 51-47–98 that easily had her among the top non-team state qualifiers from the district.

Powerhouse Panthers Push Aside Pigskin Bulldogs

BROOKFIELD — While the ultimate result was in little doubt from the outset, Brookfield High School’s football Bulldogs delivered some positive moments as they lost to state power Monroe City 58-22 at BHS’ Burlington Field last Friday. Although the visiting Panthers put up five first-half touchdowns plus several 2-points conversions, Brookfield junior quarterback Colton Parn hit for two of his three touchdown passes during the second period to keep the “running clock” off the table until late in the third stanza against the unbeaten Clarence Cannon Conference foe.
