Sharp Sheerman Medalist In Chillicothe Invitational Golf

Marceline senior has 11 pars in round of 82 last Thursday; softball blanks Scotland County Matching par on 11 of the event’s 18 holes, including seven of nine on the first nine at Green Hills Golf Course, senior Tess Sheerman of the Marceline High School Lady Tigers claimed the top individual medal from last Thursday’s annual Chillicothe Invitational Tournament. Using 41 strokes on both sides of the municipal course, the 2021 Class 1 state fifth-place finisher posted an 82 that was two strokes better than runnerup Cailyn Auffert of Maryville.

Big Plays Boost Brookfield To Second ’22 Pigskin Triumph

PALMYRA — With a repeated exhibition of big plays – on both sides of the ball, the Brookfield High School football Bulldogs easily registered their second victory of 2022 last Friday evening, whipping the host Palmyra Panthers 48-20 in Clarence Cannon Conference action. Seizing the early lead by “going up top” to Kendrell Carter as he slipped out of the backfield unnoticed on a fourth-and-4 call from the Palmyra 42, the Bulldogs (2-3, 1-2 CCC) kept up that penchant right through to their final and longest touchdown – a 54-yards burst off right tackle by running back Amos Baum in the fourth period that created a 34-points lead, 48-14.

Brookfield Golf Girls Fourth In Salisbury Tourney Last Wednesday

With both Maggie Bennett and Kammy Dixon breaking 100 and earning tournament medals, Brookfield High School’s golf Lady Bulldogs earned fourth place out of seven teams in last Wednesday’s Salisbury Invitational tournament. Fresh off her outstanding, medal-earning showing in the Smith-Cotton Ladies Invitational at Sedalia two days before, Bennett went 49-46–95 at the Salisbury Municipal Course in Potts Park, just southeast of the eastern Chariton County town.

Marceline Takes Early Charge Of L&C Softball Race

After a solid – if mostly-unsuccessful, results-wise – appearance in last weekend’s Jefferson City Invitational tournament, Marceline High School’s softball Lady Tigers early this week followed up on their standout start to defense of their Lewis and Clark Conference championship with two more triumphs, including another big one. After cruising past guest Paris in three innings Monday, MHS used a trio of crooked-number scoring innings to push past long-time L&C diamond power Westran 9-4 at the Disney Park field last Tuesday.
