Brookfield Softball Avenges Earlier Loss, Add To Wins Streak Monday

The Brookfield High School softball Lady Bulldogs continue to stack up 2022 victories, now adding former vanquishers to their victims list. At home last Monday, the diamond girls claimed their third triumph in a row and second straight in Clarence Cannon Conference action when they parlayed one big inning and one huge one into a 12-7 decision over Clark County.

BHS Bulldogs Can’t Control Unbeaten Centralia

BROOKFIELD — Following up one strong and then-undefeated Clarence Cannon Conference opponent with another didn’t work out so well for the 2022 Brookfield High School Bulldogs, so they’ll try a different tack this week. Beaten 40-8 at home by 4-0 Centralia last week after falling at South Shelby the week before, the blue and white will travel east again this week, this time all the way to Palmyra to meet a different group of Panthers who have a record the exact opposite of Centralia’s.

Marceline, Brookfield Have Diamond Success Late Last Week

Both the Marceline and Brookfield teams had notable conference successes at mid-week last week and Meadville steamrolled Macon County R-4/Bucklin to headline the county high school softball and baseball scene. Last Wednesday, the BHS Lady Bulldogs nipped visiting Centralia 6-5 in eight innings when an error on a 2-out ball hit by Maddie Wilbeck was misplayed, allowing Ella Daugherity – who had doubled with one out – to score the walk-off winner.

Marceline Football Tigers’ Search For First Triumph Extended

KANSAS CITY — On the heels of an exquisite, senior-dominated, Class 1 state-runnerup season in 2021, the Marceline High School football Tigers and their fans continue to find the fit of the shoe being on their other foot quite uncomfortable. Transitioning both to an almost-entirely new group of starters and a new head coach, Marceline continued to experience significant growing pains last Saturday at Kansas City, sustaining a 26-0 shutout loss at the hands of the Hogan Prep Academy Rams.
