‘Bell’ Heads Out Of Town Again As Brookfield Wins, 20-14

MARCELINE — In keeping with recent tradition, the prize of the Brookfield- vs.-Marceline high school football rivalry “Bell Game” ended last Friday night taking a bus ride to its new, temporary residence. The defense of the visiting Brookfield Bulldogs kept the host MHS Tigers’ offense off the scoreboard after Marceline moved 68 yards for a 7-0 lead on the game’s opening possession and the BHS offense moved the ball well enough to put up three scores, enabling the guests to reclaim the “bell” trophy with a 20-14 triumph at Chester Ray Stadium last Friday.

2021 State Softball Champs Open 2022 In Style

Gladly figuratively wearing the big bullseye of the previous season’s state champion on their backs, Marceline High School’s softball Lady Tigers posted two home wins to start their 2022 season last Monday and Tuesday. Stepping on the field to seriously compete for the first time as reigning state diamond queens, the Lady Tigers turned back a determined Hamilton: Penney club 7-1 at the Disney Park field Monday, never trailing after putting up three runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Diamond Lady ’Dogs Chew Up Hamilton In Opening Win

Following the previous Friday’s football opener at home, three more Brookfield High School fall sports programs initiated 2022 competition early this week with the softball Lady Bulldogs emerging impressively victorious on the road. The Lady ’Dogs of the diamond took apart host Hamilton: Penney 13-5 Tuesday, one day after Hamilton lost only 7-0 to the defending Class 2 state-champion Marceline Lady Tigers at Marceline.

Golf Lady Tigers Open With Pair Of Wins Tuesday

TRENTON — With their returning state medalist “doing her thing” and generating three of the fourbest rounds of the match, Marceline High School’s golf Lady Tigers jumped into the new season smartly last Tuesday with a pair of dual- match road triumphs. Coach Paige Hale’s squad, coming off a district championship in 2021, began the new campaign with a low-4 score of 222, 17 strokes ahead of Brookfield and 21 up on Trenton. MHS senior Tess Sheerman showed the way to the twin wins, parring a pair of holes (the par-4 fourth and par-3 seventh) as she carded a 46 that was nine strokes better than anyone else’s round at the Trenton Country Club course.
