Cardinals Close To NL Central Lead At Week’s Start

Thanks to consecutive extra-innings victories sparked by rookies Saturday and Sunday nights, the St. Louis Cardinals not only salvaged a 3-2 win of their extended series with the Cubs in Chicago, but also moved to within a half-game of the lead in the National League’s Central Division at the start of this week, thanks to division leader Milwaukee losing three of four to San Diego last weekend.

Lots of Everything In Mudcats’ Marathon Opening Loss Tuesday

CARROLL, Iowa — Hopefully the Chillicothe Mudcats’ bus driver had some energy drink available Tuesday night. Having recovered from squandering the 5-0 lead returnee Tanner Sears’ third-inning grand slam gave them to be up by five again going to the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mudcats saw a 4-runs advantage with two ninth-frame outs on the host Carroll Merchants vanish, then could not preserve a 15-14 margin in the 12th late Tuesday night, falling 16-15 in 12 in their 2022 season debut.

Nadal Over ‘Joker’ In French Quarterfinal Thriller

PARIS (AP) — Rafael Nadal insists he can't know for sure whether any match at Roland Garros might be his very last at a place he loves, a place he is loved. After missing a year or two, due to COVID, Chillicothe’s Kids Fish Day returns today (June 4). Co-sponsored by the North Missouri Sportsman’s Alliance and Missouri Department of Conservation, this event offers area youngsters the opportunity to fish where they are sure there are plenty of fish (extra stocking courtesy of MDC) and they can receive instruction and assistance, as needed, in their efforts.
