District-Champ Marceline Golf Tigers Set For State

MOBERLY — In a sensational, welltimed show of skill, four Marceline High School golf Tigers shot 18-holes rounds of 84 or lower in the Class 1 District 2 tournament last Monday, placing them all among the 8-best individual rounds and powering the Tigers to the team championship and one of the district’s two team berths in this coming Monday’s and Tuesday’s Class 1 State Championships tournament near Springfield.

Brookfield Diamond ’Dogs Took Winning Streak Into Postseason

BROOKFIELD — It’s not a situation anywhere comparable to the New York Yankees’ 4-decades dominance of Major League Baseball from the 1920s into the early 1960s – dominance which by the 1950s had prompted popularity of the phrase “break up the Yankees” among fans of other clubs – particularly in the American League, but the still-fledgling Brookfield High School Bulldogs are enjoying a historic stretch of success of their own.

Brookfield Golfers Non-Factor At District, Season Ends

RICHMOND — As looked likely, the season for the Brookfield High School Bulldogs golf team reached its conclusion last Monday. Competing in the state-qualifying Class 2 District 4 tournament at Richmond’s Shirkey Golf Course, Brookfield – with only the minimum four golfers needed to produce a team score entered – generated a score of 518, last in the field of 12 teams entered (not all schools had enough players for a team score).

Big Knox County Knocks In Third Terminate Tigers’ L&C Baseball-Title Hopes

EDINA — With a chance to share the 2022 Lewis and Clark Conference championship in only the third year of their program’s existence, the Marceline High School baseball Tigers looked to be generating an energy-boosting start in last Monday’s regular-season finale against Knox County when, with two outs, senior catcher Nathan Cupp singled to center field and raced toward home plate when classmate and cleanup batter Hunter Quinn ripped a drive to deep center field.
