Although it easily could have changed since Monday’s press deadline for this article, Missouri’s Major League Baseball teams commenced the week with exactly opposite records and at opposite poles in their respective leagues’ Central divisions. Having headed into last Thursday’s homestand finale with Minnesota at .500 (5-5) and looking for a sweep of a 3-games series with the Twins, the Kansas City Royals not only didn’t get that accomplished, but then went to Washington (state) and got swept themselves by Seattle, including a 5-4 loss in 12 innings Sunday. Consequently, KC came back to the midwest for the current 3-games set with the White Sox in Chicago that continues this evening with Zack Greinke (0-1, 2.25 earned run average) facing Chicago righthander Dylan Cease (2-1, 3.38) and is due to conclude tomorrow afternoon with Royals righty Brad Keller (0-2, 2.55) going against fellow portsider Michael Kopech (0- 0, 0.64) in last place in the American League Central at 5-9. That, however, was only two games back of the firstplace Twins.
