Disney students perform “Lion King Kids”

The 5th Grade Music Class at Walt Disney Elementary School in Marceline, MO, presented “The Lion King Kids” in the school’s Multipurpose Room & Gymnasium in three performances-- two on May 10 for the parents and public, and one performance for the elementary school students on May 11. The set of “The Lion King” was designed by school guidance counselor Angella Taylor, and the musical was directed by music instructor Joslyn Lay. Felicia Bratcher, assistant director, presented Lay with a gift bag and acknowledgement after the first performance. The script of “The Lion King” has been performed at musicals since the movie production, and “The Lion King Kids” provides an age-appropriate script for music classes to perform in schools.

JAMES L. CLEMANS

James L. Clemans, age 97, of Linneus, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023, at McLarney Manor in Brookfield, Missouri. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield with Pastor Arch Phillips officiating. The family received friends Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial is in the Elmwood Cemetery, Linneus. Memorial contributions to the Linneus United Methodist Church or American Legion Post 538 may be left at or mailed to Wright Funeral Home, P.O. Box 496, Brookfield, Missouri 64628. James L., son of Chester and Iva L. (Kemper) Clemans, was born July 5, 1925, in Linneus, Missouri. Jim was a 1944 graduate of Laclede High School. After graduation he joined the United States Army in 1944 serving as a T/5 Corporal in World War II where he received the Good Conduct Medal, EAMET Ribbon and Victory Ribbon. Jim was a member of the Linneus United Methodist Church, Jackson Lodge #82, American Legion Post 538, VFW Post #455, and a long-time volunteer for the Linneus Fire Department. Jim worked for over 28 years as a truck driver for the MFA Elevator in Linneus and Brookfield. He was an avid hunter and especially loved hunting quail. Jim enjoyed spending his days driving around Linneus, people watching, and spending time at the local diner. Survivors include his sister, Dorothy Chapman of Chillicothe and several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his friend and longtime companion, Wanda Hoskins; and one sister, Jean Smith.
