Dorothy Louise Weimer

LAKE NEHAI TONKAYEA – Dorothy Louise Abeln Weimer, age 89 of Lake Nehai Tonkayea, formerly of Wien, died Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Pioneer Skilled Nursing, Marceline. Dorothy was born at Salisbury, Missouri on April 6, 1932 to William and Bertha (Ginter) Abeln. She married Raymond H. Weimer on June 3, 1952. They had eight children, Sara, Philip, Jeannie, David, Janice, Alice, George and Kyle. Raymond preceded her in death. She married Leo G. Weimer on November 4, 2000 and he preceded her in death.

Dorothy moved to Wien when she was 5 years old and was a lifelong resident of Wien and Bynumville area until moving to Nehai Tonkayea in 2000. She attended St Mary elementary school and graduated High School at Bynumville. She was a faithful member of the St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church and Altar Sodality in Wien, served on the Parish Council, Picnic Committee, taught CCD, and was a member of the Rural Housing Board for several years. She considered her family to be her most important achievement. She enjoyed bus tours, gardening and her flowers. She loved quilting, she made and gave her children and her 25 grandchildren a quilt.

She is survived by her children, Sara Garvey and Michael of Brookfield, Philip Weimer and Sharon of Salisbury, Jeannie Burk and Lloyd of New Cambria, David Weimer of Salisbury, Janice Allen and Bill of Brookfield, Alice Niemeier and Darryl of New Cambria, George Weimer and Tonyia of Marceline, and Kyle Wiemer and Laurie of New Cambria, 25 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and two on the way, 2 step grandchildren, and 19 step great grandchildren, sisters, Nadine Trollinger and Bill, Laveda Niemeier and Ralph, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond in 1997, husband Leo in 2009, brothers, Maurice Abeln, Ervin Abeln, sisters, Virginia Shatto, Mildred Huss, brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Frieda Weimer, Robert and Dorothy Weimer, Clarence Weimer, Martin Weimer, Pauline and Bill Schafer, Roma Abeln, Harry Shatto, and Raymond Huss.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Saturday, December 4, 2021 at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Wien with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Friday, December 3, 2021 with Rosary at 7 PM at the church in Wien. Memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Angels Church or St. Mary’s Cemetery and mailed to Delaney Funeral Home 1720 N Missouri Ave., Marceline, MO 64658. Masks are optional.
