Brookfield High School softball senior catcher Maddie Wilbeck was voted to the all-Class 2 District 6 second team, the school learned early this week. According to head coach Paige Corf, “Maddie had five stolen bases on the season. .219 average, .316 on-base percentage, .313 slugging, 14 hits, 12 RBI, 12 runs scored, and 10 walks. She caught every single inning this season and only had six passed balls and caught 13 runners stealing and picked off another six.” The coach further elaborates, “Maddie made a big defensive change this season. Having her behind the plate was a switch she was happy about. She worked well with all of our pitchers and wasn’t afraid to call timeout and regain the team’s composure. She stepped up and took on her captain’s role with good command. Maddie is passionate and hard working and her effort does not go unnoticed.” (PAUL STURM/LCL FILE PHOTO)
