Helen Doris Liebhart

Helen Doris Liebhart, age 92, died December 12, 2021 at McLarney Manor in Brookfield, MO. Doris was born in New Boston, MO to William and Opal (Bradley) Standley. She married her high school sweetheart, Carl Junior Liebhart, on February 14, 1947. They bought a farm north of New Boston, which continues to be farmed and enjoyed by the family. During their marriage they lived in rural New Boston and Goldsberry and later moved to Brookfield in 1964.

Doris’ first work experience was at age 11, testing butterfat content of milk and waiting on customers at the Hart country store, owned by her Aunt Tilly and Uncle Oscar Standley. She spoke fondly of accompanying Aunt Tilly on shopping trips to Kansas City riding on the Doodle Bug Train to pick up merchandise to sell in the store. Doris was employed outside the home as a clerk at the MFA store in New Boston, a presser at the Marceline Cleaners, sewing instructor/ supervisor at Stanbury Uniform in Marceline, a pharmacy technician at Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield and secretary/bookkeeper for Littrell Oil Company.

Family was important to Doris; her favorite small kitchen appliance was her pressure cooker which always kept food hot whether taking a meal to Junior in the field or to a family gathering. She will be remembered for carrying her camera and taking many pictures. These many photos brought Doris a lot of pleasure and preserved memories to enjoy then and again in her later years. Outside of her family, a favorite activity was presenting a trophy in memory of her husband at the Linn County 4-H Horse Show until the age of 80. She enjoyed involvement in Widowed Person Services and Singles in Agriculture. She was a member of the New Boston Christian Church, teaching children’s classes and helping with VBS when her children were young.

She is survived by two children, Carolynn Doris Scott of Medina, OH and Stanley Carl (Colleen) Liebhart of New Boston. Doris had four grandchildren, Dr. Jason (Ingrid) Scott of Lancaster, PA, Melanie (John) Stolarski of Medina, OH, Anne (Ricky) Roselius of Fulton, MO and Dr. Carl Ray (Natasha) Liebhart of Moberly, MO and 9 great-grandchildren Brennan, Jordan and Mason Scott; Dr. Kelsey Stolarski, Ty Stolarski; Ryan, Jake and Reagan Roselius; C.J. and Thomas Liebhart; 2 great great grandchildren Isabella and Sophia Scott. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Junior, in 1980 and her son-in-law Bill Scott in 2014. Also preceding her in death were sisters, Merta Lewis and Dorothy Cunningham and brothers Benny, Frank, Harry and Robert Standley.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline with visitation will be from 12 Noon until time of services. Burial will be in the New Boston Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the New Boston Cemetery and mailed to 1720 N. Missouri Ave., Marceline, MO 64658.
