As lineman Tanner Sayre holds on and pulls from behind and other Tigers pursue to held, if needed, Marceline High School defensive back Canaan Wright moves in to make a hit from in front on a Scotland County ballcarrier during MHS’ 41-17 Lewis and Clark Conference home victory over the Tigers last Friday. Despite a standing request and fresh reminder, no offensive or scoring details from the Tigers’ third win in a row were reported prior to Monday afternoon’s story-filing deadline. Defensively, the Black Rage did have 12 tackles – nine unassisted and three behind the line of scrimmage – from senior linebacker Ryder Gooch, seven solo stops and an assist from Brayden Lichtenberg, five tackles – three for losses – by lineman Connor Ratliff, five solo tackles plus an interception by Wright, two Conner Quinn tackles for losses, five total tackles – four unassisted – and an interception returned for a touchdown by Caleb Stallo, and a “pick” apiece by Cayden Davis and Dax Thomas, according to defensive state head coach Joey Peterson related. While Scotland County rushed for just over 200 net yards, it threw for only 42 on 20 attempts and had the four swiped by MHS defenders. Marceline (3-4, 3-1 L&C) will go to Huntsville to face Westran this Friday night. (MARTIN CUPP/LCL PHOTO)
