Meadville R-IV School District is gearing up for the annual Homecoming Week from Feb. 11-14, 2025, embracing the theme “High School Musical.” The week is packed with spirited activities, from creative dress-up days to a community-focused canned food drive hosted by the Student Council (Stu-Co) and National Honor Society (NHS).
The dress up days will bring the theme to life inspired by the beloved movie. Each day offers a unique opportunity for self-expression and fun. Tuesday is ‘Break the Status Quo’ day where teachers and students will swap roles where teachers dress as students and students will dress like teachers. Wednesday’s spirit day is Gabriella vs. Troy where MHS students can participate either as an academic or as an athlete Thursday’s theme is ‘Rhythm without Reason’ and students are going to be dressing as things that rhyme. Friday’s theme is ‘Getcha Head in the Game’ where students will burst the school with purple and white, showing their Eagle school spirit.
The students will also celebrate Homecoming with a pep rally on Friday at 1 p.m. to cheer on the Eagle basketball teams. The games will begin that evening with a girls and boys basketball game. Homecoming coronation will take place that evening following the boys’ basketball game.
Homecoming royalty candidates include seniors, Lainee Myers and Memphis Beall; juniors, Kallie High and Quentyn Smith; sophomores, Hunter Mitchell and Alexis Shiflett; and freshmen Caden Raymo and Alivia Tiemeyer.
The student homecoming dance will be held after coronation until 11 p.m. at the Meadville Community Center so they can dance the night away.
Make a Difference with the MHS NHS Food Drive
As part of Homecoming Week, Meadville R-IV School District’s Stu-Co and National Honor Society are hosting a food drive competition to benefit the Meadville Food Pantry. From Feb.11-14, students are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to their class sponsor’s room. The class that collects the most donations will be announced during the Pep Assembly on Friday, Feb. 14, and will win a special prize.
It’s more than a competition though. It’s about impacting the community and making a difference for the local families in need in the Meadville area. Contact Meadville R-IV at 660-938-4111 to make arrangements to donate canned goods to support the district in their mission.
