The ball elevates off the bat of Marceline High School senior Cassi Rodgers on its way to clearing the fence in left-center field for a game-tying 2-runs home run in the top of the fifth inning of last Thursday’s Class 2 high school state tournament quarterfinal game against Elsberry at Marceline’s Disney Park. An inning later, Rodgers drew a 2-outs, bases-full, 5-pitches walk to snap the 3-3 tie this blast created, while – as the Lady Tigers’ pitcher, she was retiring the final 12 EHS batters of the game as MHS rallied for a 6-3 victory that sends them back to the state semifinals and finals this weekend at Springfield.
