Although he didn’t get credit for the victory, due to being removed after three innings with the team ahead 9-4, Meadville’s Conner Fletcher allowed only two earned runs as the Chillicothe Mudcats’ starting pitcher in last Saturday’s 2022 season finale, striking out five and walking only one. After having sat out the last month-plus of the Mudcats’ 2021 season and all of his first year at State Fair Community College with pitching-arm soreness, Fletcher was able to work 11-1/3 innings over seven appearances (two short, final-week starts) this summer to begin reacclimating himself to being on the mound.
