The new Casey’s General Store had a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony last Friday.

Members of Brookfield Chamber of Commerce and citizens came out to celebrate the opening of the business.

The new Casey’s had been in production for nearly six months. The Casey’s, which originally sat at 303 W. Lockling, closed in November of last year. Since then the old building had been torn down and a new expanded Casey’s was constructed in its place.

According to Casey’s store manager Heather Powell, she is excited to continue serving Brookfield.

“We’re going to continue serving the Brookfield community,” Powell said. “We hope to continue our great service for Brookfield and the company.”

The new Casey’s offers more space for semi trucks and features a larger interior. The new building has a made-to-order sub shop, seating and tables for customers, more gas pumps and larger bathroom facilities.

According to Brookfield Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Donna Hulett, it’s a great addition to Brookfield.

“This is great for Brookfield and anyone coming to town,” Hulett said.

Brookfield local Stan Gibson had been frequenting Casey’s for a long time and enjoys going there.

“They have very good employees here, I know that isn’t easy,” Gibson said. “I hope it will bring more business to Brookfield.”

Since the opening of the new Casey’s, many employees have moved over from the other Brookfield Casey’s located on Main Street. The Main Street location has since closed.
