Members of the Brookfield Police Department were engaged in a brief standoff, on Aug. 5 on park Circle Drive near Walmart in Brookfield, which resulted in seven felony charges for Shon K. Diegan, Moberly.
According to a press release from Police Chief Joel Dixon, a large police presence was seen in the Walmart and Circle Drive area at 10:02 p.m., on Aug. 5, after an officer initiated a traffic stop. the vehicle's driver pulled the car over near the entrance of the store, stopping just feet from Park Circle Drive.
"When officers made contact with the three occupants of the vehicle they observed one subject had pulled a handgun and threatened to harm himself," Dixon said. "After a short period of time the subject with the handgun was taken into custody."
At about 10:34 p.m., officers arrested Diegan. It was later discovered that Diegan had four active Randolph County warrants for his arrest.
As a result of this incident, Deigan has been charged with seven felonies, including, unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon while in possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana.
Diegan is due in court for a bond appearance hearing at 10 a.m,., on Aug, 19. He is currently being held in the Macon County Jail.
