Recent reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) include one fatality accident in Linn County and one underage female being arrested for being visibly intoxicated.

According to the patrol’s online accident reports at about 8:10 p.m., on Sept. 20, Douglas N. Palmer, 29, Brookfield was driving a 1997 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on Route M, one and a half miles from Brookfield when he struck a deer, overturned, was ejected from the motorcycle and slid off the right side of the road. He was life-flighted to the University of Missouri for treatment of serious injuries. According to the report, he did have a safety device on.

At about 11:15 p.m., on Sept. 20, troopers and area emergency services responded to U.S. Highway 36 eastbound, a half a mile south of Meadville, according to reports. Upon arrival law enforcement found a 2013 Mack Truck driven by William G. Simmons, 61, Avon, Ill., had been involved in an accident where the semi went off the side of the road, hit a ditch and overturned. According to the report, Simmons was pronounced dead later at Pershing Memorial Hospital.

At 8:45 a.m., on Sept. 21, troopers responded to Highway 3, four miles north of Callao where they found a 10-year-old male juvenile from Callao seriously injured after Sebastian L. Garrison had crested a hill while driving a 1994 Dodge 2500 pick-up, began skidding and struck the juvenile. The juvenile was taken to the University of Missouri for the treatment of serious injuries, according to the MSHP report.

A Trenton woman received minor injuries following an accident at 12:12 p.m., on Sept. 21 at U.S. Highway 63 at Route Z in Cairo. According to the report, a 16-year-old male juvenile was driving a 2008 Altima when he failed to yield when crossing U.S. Highway 63 and struck a vehicle driven by James R. Knight, Trenton. A passenger in Knight’s vehicle, 18-year-old Elizabeth A Tredway, Trenton, received minor injuries and was taken to the University of Missouri for treatment, she was wearing a seatbelt, according to the report.

The minor driver, was not wearing a seatbelt and received minor injuries and was taken to Moberly Regional Hospital for treatment.

According to an online arrest report from the MSHP, troopers in Livingston County arrested 20-year-old, Houston E. Klamert, Atlanta, at 1:36 a.m., on Sept. 22, for the alleged zero-tolerance crime of minor visibly intoxicated. She was released to a sober driver.
