The City of Marceline is seeking volunteers who want to serve their community and be positive influences on its future by being a member of the newly enacted Historic Preservation Commission, according to an announcement from the city. According to city bylaws, the Historic Preservation Commission shall consist of five members who live within the Marceline R-V School District. “Members must have a demonstrated interest, competence or knowledge in historic preservation and to the extent available in the community, the commission shall include professional members representing such disciplines as architecture, architectural history, prehistoric and historic archaeology, planning, urban design, cultural geography, cultural anthropology, folklore, curation, conservation, landscape architecture, law, real estate brokerage, banking, history or other fields related to historic preservation,” the announcement reads.
The terms of office of the members are for three years, except that the membership of the first appointed Commission shall serve respectively for terms of one for one year; two for two years and two for three years. This is a volunteer position.
Applications for the Historic Preservation Commission are attached and should be submitted to the City Clerk at 116 N Main Street USA, Marceline, MO 64658 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org by 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17.
