Despite the pandemic, Larry Lunsford and John Gill have found a way to host the Rotarians’ 11th Shoes Caravan this summer across three days. Shoes collected will be donated to Shoes for Orphan Souls.
The event theme is “A Safe Shoes Caravan During a Pandemic” and will hit a total of 13 stops on consecutive weekends, beginning Friday in the northeast corner of the state.
This year’s Caravan will implement fewer stops, no overnight stays, and appropriate distancing.
The Caravan rolls into Marceline on Friday, June 26 from noon to 1 p.m. Both Brookfield’s and Marceline’s clubs are invited to contribute at this juncture at Spencer Auto at 701 S. Missouri in Marceline.
The next day, the Caravan will conclude in the Kansas City area to end the shoes drive.
Lunsford is also gladly accepting monetary donation for those unable to attend the drive. He can be reached at 913-269-7131 with any concerns. Checks may be made out to Shoes for Orphan Souls and delivered to Larry Lunsford, 4600 Madison, Suite 1500, Kansas City, Mo. 64112.
