The Linn County Commission met on this date with Commissioners King, Brown and Muck and County Clerk Stephenson present. Presiding Commissioner King called the meeting to order. The agenda for June 9, 2020 was reviewed.


Ken Babcock called with concerns about the flow of Higgins Ditch. He can’t get into his property due to flooding from log jam downstream.


A return call was made to Mike Greer regarding Higgins Ditch. None of the water around his property will drain due to log jam.


Commission returned a call to Vaughn Walters regarding Higgins Ditch.


Mitch Wrenn was in to discuss the County’s CARES Act funding opportunity.


The minutes of the June 1, 2020 meeting were reviewed. Commissioner Brown made a motion to approve and sign the minutes. Commissioner Muck seconded the motion and the motion was passed. Vote recorded: King-yes, Brown-yes and Muck-yes.


Commissioner Brown made a motion to approve bills as submitted for payment. Commissioner Muck seconded the motion and the motion was passed. Vote recorded: King-yes, Brown-yes and Muck-yes.


Back Tax Court Orders were reviewed and signed.


A return call was made to George Seek regarding Higgins Ditch. He can’t get into his property due to flooding and wants some kind of action taken. Commission will take under advisement.


Commissioner King the Emergency Watershed Protection bid opening to order at 10:30am. Those in attendance were: Commissioners King, Brown and Muck, Clerk Stephenson and Foreman Meek; there was no public present. Bids were received as follows:


Lane Project: Hustead Bulldozing - $6870.00; Larry Lane - $6412.00


Wheatcraft Project: Scott Wheatcraft - $59,713.50; Bowen Construction – $61,239.00


Kitchen Project: Joe Kitchen – $11,800.00; L & R Phillips – $10,387.17


Forst Project: Bowen Construction – $12,040.00


Commissioner Muck made a motion to accept all bids. Commissioner King seconded the motion and the motion was passed. Vote recorded: King-yes, Brown-yes and Muck-yes


Commissioner Muck was contacted about the bridge on Aloe Rd east of Ark Dr. needing riprap. Foreman Meek will look at it.


Darrell Myers called regarding the log jam on Higgins Ditch.


Commissioner Brown presented a draft of the plan to implement CARES Fund Reimbursement for Linn County for reviewed to become a part of the County CARES Act guidelines. Commissioner King made a motion to accept the plan as presented. Commissioner Muck seconded the motion and the motion was passed. Vote recorded: King-yes, Brown-yes and Muck-yes.


A call was made to attorney Schraeder to discuss road easements.


The monthly project report from McClure for Bridge 0190003, Treasurer’s reconciliation and Sales and Use tax receipts for May were reviewed.


David Hannink, Brookfield Township called to check on the status of FEMA funds.
