Heather Lynn Morris, 41, of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in Columbia, after a long battle with cancer.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Mizzou Arena on Saturday, March 17. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 1:00 p.m. Grave site service will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Heather was born Dec. 2, 1976 in Moberly, to Dale B. Jr., and Sherry Painter Davidson.
She was a 1995 graduate of Centralia High School and graduated from William Woods University in Fulton with a Master Degree in Education.
On June 5, 1999, she married Mike Morris in Centralia.
She taught middle school in Centralia and was the girls’ softball and basketball coach for several years before starting her career at the University of Missouri.
She joined the Mizzou Made-Academics program in August 2014 as Director of the Enhanced Learning Program. She worked with all of Mizzou's sports teams; collaborating with campus resources, professors and instructors to help student-athletes achieve academic success. She is also a member of the N4A and the N4A Learning Concerns and Enhancement Committee.
Heather enjoyed spending time at the beach, soaking in the sun with her toes in the sand and loved to watch her children playing sports.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Morris, of Columbia; children, Tre and Addie Morris; brother, Ben (Kalyn) Davidson of Columbia; parents, Dale and Sherry Davidson of Centralia; father and mother-in-law, Mike Sr. (Barbara) Morris of Brookfield; sister-in-law, Michelle (Mike) Scates of Brookfield; nephews, Brady and Kiernan Davidson and Derek Scates; and niece, Elizabeth Scates.
An infant daughter, Addison Morris, preceded her in death.
