John Kent Summers, 67, of Marceline, MO, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at his home.
Kent was born on January 29, 1951, in Moberly, MO, a son of John Buford and Ruth Ann (Flaspohler) Summers.
Kent was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury and the NRDC (National Resource Defense Council). He worked for Walsworth Publishing for 25 years and he enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and going fishing. Kent enjoyed playing with his grandchildren as much as possible and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Sterling John Summers of Salisbury, MO; two brothers, Greg Summers (Debbie) of Overland Park, KS, Mark Summers (Deanna) of O’Fallon, MO; two sisters, Cynthia James (Dennis) of Wright City, MO, Audrey Hayward (Larry) of Keytesville, MO; two grandchildren, Maddox and Kalden; a brother-in-law, Art Westhues (Karen) of Liberty, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to both of his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Brooke Jeanette Summers and one sister, Claudia Westhues.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with a Vigil Service of the Church at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary Service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2018 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salisbury with burial to follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Joseph Catholic School Foundation or the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
