2023 Brookfield High School Bulldogs catcher Garrett Wood tags out a Trenton baserunner who tried to score after being picked off third base by BHS pitcher Colton Parn in the third inning of last Saturday’s 6-1 BHS victory at Trenton. Third baseman Gunnar Drescher took C. Parn’s pickoff throw and quickly threw home to Wood in time for the receiver to have the plate blocked for an easy tag. After beating Trenton, Drescher pitched the first four innings and Wood the last three as Brookfield completed a sweep of its games at Burleigh Grimes Field, shading Newtown-Harris/Grundy County R-5 4-3 to move BHS’ record back to .500 at 4-4.
