The Marceline track team traveled southeast on Thursday evening for the Moberly Invitational. The girls had resounding success against a field of larger opponents, and the boys had a modest deal of triumph.

The girls won the meet with a score of 134.5, 31 points better than runner-up Blair Oaks.

Junior distance runner Maycee Edgar was the only runner to acquire a gold individually, doing so in the 3200 meters with a time of 13:29. Jaylea Bixenman was the only other individual top finisher, launching herself five feet to clear the high-jump bar.

All four relay teams finished in the top two. The 400-meter and 3200-meter relay teams both finished second, while the four-by-two and four-by-four both took the Invitational title. Bixenman participated on both of the winning relay teams.

The Tiger boys had a modest deal of success, highlighted by senior Dustin Kelly winning the discus throw with a 136'1" chuck. The 3200-meter relay team finished second. Nick Cain's 42.99 in the 300-meter hurdles was good for a second place finish, and Logan Swanson's 5:06 in the 1600 earned him a third-place finish.

The Tiger boys are scheduled to compete again in Centralia on Monday, while the girls will travel there the next afternoon.
