Correction: Marceline girls medal five in Tiger Mat

In Tuesday's article regarding last weekend's Tiger Mat Classic in Marceline, the Marceline girls' team was inadvertently omitted altogether.

The Tigers had their first-ever champions, and five Marceline girls medaled.

Ciarrah Bell and Addy Schmitt both claimed gold medals on Saturday, and Rachel Cupp and K'Lea Dameron both battled to their respective championship matches before falling, and claimed second.

Gracey Jordan finished third.

For Bell, Schmitt, and Dameron, Saturday marked the first time that they had ever wrestled a live match.

The Bulldogs will play Lexington in the consolation semifinal on Thursday.

"We were completely dominated tonight," Brookfield coach Jerod Gillman said. "Oak Grove is a solid Class 4 program, and they're probably not a team we're capable of beating yet, but we are certainly capable of competing at a higher level than we showed tonight."

Stephan Montgomery led the Bulldogs in scoring with nine points.
