As the Marceline Tigers look ahead to their first-ever postseason, the five seed has a lot to be excited about for the future of its young program.
Marceline is scheduled to play fourth-seed Milan in Scotland County on Friday evening.
Entering the game, the Tigers are batting .247 as a team with an on-base percentage of .390. Freshman centerfielder Wyatt Molloy has led the team with a .409 batting average. Molloy's on base plus slugging is a ridiculous 1.328. Nathan Sayre is batting .324, and he has a team-high 11 runs batted in. Hunter Quinn is the only other Tiger batting above .200 territory, and he is hitting exactly .300.
Sayre has also been the most effective starter for the Tigers. In 29.1 innings across eight games, Sayre has an earned run average of 4.3. He has allowed 39 hits while striking out 33. Devon Skinner is the Tigers' only other pitcher to hurl double-digit innings, pitching 18.2 across six games. He has an ERA of 6.75.
