Meadville, Linn County, and Bucklin traveled to Higginsville's Class 1 District 6 meet on Saturday morning. Meadville's boys finished second out of 16 teams with 92 points, 44 points behind Glasgow.
Meadville senior Dillon Seckington won both the 800 and 1600, posting times of 2:05 and 4:46. His 4x800 team (Jace Jacobs, Tanner Berry, Dominik Gannan, Seckington) also advanced to the sectional meet by finishing second with a time of 8:53. The Meadville boys' 4x400 team (Ethan Newlin, Connor Fletcher, Trent Bloss, Seckington) finished third to advance at 3:39.
Eagle junior Jacob Tsikoyak won the discus with a personal-best throw of 138 feet, 11 inches. He topped the field by 21 feet. Fletcher won the javelin at 152 feet, four inches, and also advanced in the triple jump with a 39 foot, three inch jump, good for third.
Newlin's 19 foot, six inch long jump earned him third and a trip to the sectional meet.
Linn County senior Caleb Schreiner advanced in three events. He won the open 400 with a 52.28, finished second in the 200 with a 23.41, and won the 110-meter hurdles a 16.35.
On the girls' side, Meadville freshman Maggie McLain won the 400 at 1:02. She also advances in the 200, in which she finished second with a time of 27.41.
The Meadville girls advanced three of their four relay teams. The 4x800 finished second with a time of 11:03 (Krysta Meyers, Kiera Holcer, Allie Myers, McLain). The 4x400 was third at 4:35 (Meyers, Holcer, McKenna Lambert, McLain), and the 4x200 finished fourth (Lambert, Holcer, Meyers, Kaci Ruff).
Ruff was fourth in the high jump to advance with a mark of four feet, nine inches.
