Meadville and Linn County participated in the Class 1 Sectional 3 meet in Russellville on Saturday. The Eagle boys were fifth, and the girls were ninth.
Linn County, represented solely by Caleb Schreiner, finished 17th in a field of 26 schools with at least one participant.
The host school won in both the girls' and boys' standings.
Meadville's Conner Fletcher advanced in the triple jump with a mark of 40 feet, five inches. Jacob Tsikoyak qualified for the state meet by finishing third in the discus at 136 feet, five inches.
The Eagles' 4x800 team (Jace Jacobs, Tanner Berry, Dominik Gannan, Dillon Seckington) finished third at 9:00 to move on. Seckington won the 1600 by four hundredths of a second with a time of 4:48.40. He narrowly missed winning the 800 as well, finishing with a 2:07, less than a tenth of a second behind a Russellville competitor.
Linn County's Schreiner advanced to the state meet three times over. He was second in the 110 hurdles, fourth in the 200, and second in the 400.
For the Meadville girls, Kaci Ruff moves on in the high jump with a mark of four feet, 10 inches.
The 4x800 team finished fourth (Krysta Meyers, Kiera Holcer, Allie Myers, Maggie McLain) at 11:12.
Freshman McLain won the open 400 with a time of 1:03, and her 27.77 200-meter dash was good for fourth.
The state track meet is this weekend in Jefferson City.
