The Brookfield boys' and girls' basketball teams hosted three other schools for a shootout on July 6.

The girls finished 2-1, defeating Bucklin and Milan and losing to Meadville.

The boys were 1-2, winning agaisnt Meadville. The Brookfield boys lost to Salisbury and then to Southwest on a buzzer-beating floater.

"All around, it was a great day of basketball," Brookfield boys' head coach and girls' interim coach Carey Davison said. "Our boys started the day off very rusty and out of control. We calmed down in the second game but still played too sloppy to come out on top.

"Our (boys') last game was the most complete game of the day. We finally turned it up on the defensive end, and found our big inside presence."
