William Lawrence “Larry” Carriker, age 64 of
New Cambria, MO, passed away Friday, May 19, 2023 at Boone Hospital. Larry was born in Marceline, MO on June 12, 1958 to William and Jane (Pate) Carriker. He graduated from Macon County R-IV, Class of 1976. He married his beloved wife, Jane A. (Roberts) Carriker on July 16, 1976 at the United Church of New Cambria. Larry’s main profession was a tool and die maker and he worked for Toastmaster in Macon, MO and Dura Automotive in Moberly, MO for most of his career. Larry was a life long sports fan and enjoyed Cardinals baseball and NASCAR racing. He had a fantastic memory and a wonderful sense of humor which made him the best story-teller. Larry’s favorite person in the entire world was his wife, Janey, who he referred to as “Sweetie Hottie.” They spent most of their free time together whether it was eating out, watching NASCAR, or taking walks in the evenings. Second only to his wife was the love he had for his grandchildren. He enjoyed any time he could steal with them and always had a smile on his face when they were near. Larry was a life long resident of New Cambria and was proud of his community. He always supported the people and groups of his little town and would be the first to throw a donation in when needed. From being a volunteer fire man to attending the alumni banquets, Larry wanted to be involved in his hometown. He’s survived by his mother, Jane Carriker; his three children, Erin Carriker (Stephanie), Megan Edgerton (Eric), and Sara Carriker; eight grandchildren, Dylan (Kali), Marcus, Jenna, Aidan, Hayleigh, Lillian, Aubree, and Arabella; two great-grandchildren, Asher and Creed; three siblings, Michele Ryan, Mary Carter, and Jim Carriker; and many extended family. Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Janey, and his father, Buster. Funeral service will be 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the United Church of New Cambria, New Cambria, MO. Burial will be in the New Cambria Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, 2:00 p.m., until the time of the service, at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the New Cambria Community Betterment Committee. Arrangements are under the direction of Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, MO.
